AIRLINE CHECK ON

Of course, we make cases that can be checked on as luggage when you fly. That is part of what we do and what the ATA specification applies to. Having said that, there is a great deal to understand about Airline Check-On Baggage. Since our great Country was attacked on "9-11" many rules for check on items have changed. What used to be a standing rule that seldom was adjusted, has now become almost a weekly change, with rules regarding weight, size and the charge for items checked on becoming a moving target.

As of this writing we believe we can still safely say that a container weighing 50 to perhaps 70 pounds AND being 62 linear inches or less, most probably will be checked on for no additional charge. A linear inch size of up to 115 linear inches and weighing over 70 pounds to 99 pounds may be received but will most likely be assessed a fee, if your particular Airline will accept it at all.

Security is always an issue, and traveling with items other than suitcases may cause delays. However, there are other issues in play. The Airlines, strapped for revenue, have recently been lowering the size and weight rules for free passage of check on items. We have two suggestions for you. 1) Check with your Airline of choice a day or so before traveling to see what the "Check on rules" are at the time of travel. 2) Call us for better solutions to the entire problem and avoid the situation entirely. We have answers. In short, the Airlines are trying to get out of the free freight business on passenger flights.
