ARE CASES TESTED?
Absolutely. Again, this is an area of major difference between Anvil Cases and any other case supplier around. The very best specifications for cases are the ATA specification by the Air Transportation Association and the Military Test Specification "Mil-Std. 810C/D."
Regarding the ATA specification, see the ATA section in this FAQ portion of our site for an expanded view. It explains what the ATA is all about and their requirements. Anvil Cases meet and exceed the very highest levels of that specification. One needs to be cautious, as the ATA specification has several gradations. At the low end of the specification are things like suitcases. So, simply stating that one meets the specification is not near enough. Which part of the requirements are we addressing? For us, it is the very top specification level, Number 300, Category 1 under report number 18997 for shipping containers. Claims are easy to make, but we can prove ours and stand behind it.
A tougher specification and test to meet is the Mil Std. 810C/D. Oddly enough, the case we build to the Mil Spec. is practically no different than our normal case built to meet the ATA specification. We found that it is expedient to build a case to meet the Mil-Std specification and use the identical design for our commercial grade ATA case. Or the other way around, if you wish. Either way, you get the best of both worlds. There are very slight differences between our commercial ATA case and the Military one. Not enough to list. But then, we get very few commercial customers who want their cases colored in Olive Drab or Camouflage. You can have it, there is no restriction, but yuck! Do you Vets out there really want to remember those days?!
The one thing that is very important about the Military specification (impacting the real compliance to the ATA specification as well) is the actual testing. This is where we separate Anvil Cases from all the rest of the pack. As of this writing, we are not aware of any other case company that has ever really been tested by an independent Testing Laboratory to prove its claims to durability, survival and the specifications that demand such things. Anvil Cases has.
We can prove our compliance to the test criteria. In fact, there is 73 page compliance test report which shows Anvils compliance to the very tough specifications and testing. The tests were done by an independent test laboratory; Wyle Laboratories, Inc., and are contained in the test evaluation book. Now, this 73 page treatise is not going to make the best sellers list, nor become your favorite bedtime reading, but it does prove, conclusively, that everything we claim about Anvil Cases is true and has been tested by outside authorities. This report is indeed accepted by both our Commercial and Military customers who require such proof support data. Of course, other tests have been run by some of our customers as well, to reaffirm compliance to their independent specifications. We have never failed any test done by any organization or agency.
